A sick puppy abandoned in its crate near a cemetery is fighting for life

The unfortunate was not identified using a microchip or a tattoo. It is therefore impossible for the authorities to find its owner. The priority was to cure him of his terrible, potentially fatal disease.

On June 15, 2022, a good Samaritan drove a poor 5-month-old puppy named PJ to Angell Animal Medical Center (MSPCA) located at Boston in the state of Massachusetts to United States. He explained that he discovered the baby alone in his transport crate around 5:20 p.m. on Walk Hill Street near the cemetery Mount Hope.

PJ was emaciated and looked really bad. The vets took his case very seriously and gave him their full attention.

A life-saving diagnosis

After examination, the trainers were able to attest that the young Pitbull had parvovirus. A contagious infectious disease causing intestinal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and severe dehydration that can lead to the death of the animal.

PJ therefore urgently received intravenous treatment with electrolytes (minerals that carry an electrical charge in the blood helping to regulate nerve and muscle function) and antibiotics. “Today, it is already much better”said Mike Keileythe director of the MSPCA at NBCBoston.

When PJ was recovered, he wore a blue, gray and yellow tricolor collar, but did not have a means of identification such as a microchip or a tattoo. Investigators were therefore unable to trace his master. A call for witnesses was launched.

The MSPCA regrets that this kind of abandonment happens every day because of people who do not ask for help when they find themselves unable to provide for the needs of their doggie.

“As an open admissions shelter, we make the surrender process accessible and non-judgmental for pet owners who need to give up their companion”clarified Mike.

PJ is currently in the healing phase. He should be able to join a loving home within 2 weeks to live a long life full of adventures and tenderness.
