Elon Musk reactivates Donald Trump’s Twitter account

The account of the former American president, Donald Trump, is again active on Twitter. The new owner of the famous platform, Elon Musk, thus promotes freedom of expression as he had promised by buying the US giant.

Billionaire Elon Musk, fresh owner of Twitter, has restored Donald Trump’s account after consulting platform users who voted to lift censorship that had hit the former White House tenant since the last US presidential election. The real estate magnate had indeed suffered the excesses of the internal political struggles which plague Uncle Sam. In fact, Trump’s account has been suspended since January 6, 2021 and the Capitol riot. Twitter then accused him “incitement to violence”.

According to The Guardian, the account was already online on Sunday, although Trump has yet to post a message for the more than 80 million users who follow him. His last tweet was on January 8, 2021, in which he said he would not attend Joe Biden’s inauguration as the 46th President of the United States. And this, because of a vast alleged fraud which he ardently disputes.

Donald Trump more focused on his own platform

However, the person concerned did not seem eager to return to Twitter when he brought up the subject on Saturday. “I see no reason for this”, he said at the annual meeting of the leaders of the Republican Jewish Coalition. The latter added that he would stick to his new platform, Truth Social, while stating that Twitter still suffered from bots and fake accounts.

Last week, Trump announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 and praised Musk, saying he had always loved him.
