After being talked about after the purchase of Twitter for more than 44 billion dollars, Elon Musk is still being talked about. Today, the Tesla boss said “almost everyone” can afford a $100,000 ticket to Mars.
In a recent interview, the businessman spoke about the future colonization of Mars. Elon Musk also shared his opinion on the matter by stating that “almost everyone” can afford a ticket to the red planet. Many people criticize the billionaire for being disconnected from reality. “Almost anyone can work and save and eventually have $100,000,” he said in an interview.
When presenting the Axel Springer Prize in 2020, he announced a first manned mission by 2026. However, he admitted that this dream would take a little longer to send a human to safety. SpaceX aims to build a fully self-sufficient city in the coming decades. The space company has already begun testing prototypes of the 400-foot “Starship,” as well as a launch pad in Florida capable of accommodating the vehicle. During the interview, Elon Musk said the tests were “promising” and that the first orbital launch could take place “in a few months”.
Elon Musk also addressed the price of the ticket which must remain affordable in order to be able to set up tourism. He added that the price would be determined primarily by the economy, but also to make travel affordable to attract around one million people. Nevertheless, it must be admitted, not everyone can afford a $100,000 ticket. The ticket mentioned in the video is only hypothetical, because in the past, the businessman had announced a ticket up to 500,000 dollars. According to the owner of SpaceX, anyone can sell these terrestrial goods to access the ticket to Mars. He added that this trip could be possible through other financial sources such as government sponsorship, but also taking out a loan. Not sure that this statement will please the inhabitants of planet Earth.
