Since last year, rumors of a partnership between the Korean giant and the American manufacturer of electric cars have been very persistent.
Some reports have even indicated that an agreement has even been signed by the two electronic giants for Samsung to supply cameras to Tesla’s electric vehicles. Samsung has today put an end to speculation. The Korean giant has indicated that it is really in negotiations with Tesla.
Samsung, future camera supplier for Tesla
After leaving the bed to all sorts of speculation, Samsung has therefore officially provided the elements confirming that it was in contact with Tesla. The goal of the negotiations is therefore to make Samsung Electro-Mechanics a potential supplier of cameras for Tesla vehicles.
The information was reported on July 8, 2022 by Reuters. The outlet, however, clarified that Samsung did not reveal the size or amount of the transaction. Discussions would still be in the preliminary phase.
In the meantime, Samsung continues to work on advancing and diversifying its camera modules. The Korean giant has indicated this through a regulatory document. It should be remembered that in the past year, Samsung has released its first camera sensor for automobiles. The latter is called Auto 4 AC.

Which Tesla car model will be equipped with a Samsung camera?
If we refer to all the rumors that have circulated previously, there is a good chance that it is the Tesla Cybertruck the lucky one.
Indeed, reports last year indicated that Samsung may have struck a $436 million deal with Tesla to equip its new all-electric, open-bed, all-terrain utility vehicle with cameras.
Earlier this year, another report came to support the information of the previous one. He believes that Samsung Electro-Mechanics won a camera contract for the Cybertruck ahead of LG Innotek. The other South Korean company reacted immediately, indicating that it had never participated in this type of auction.
With the information revealed today by Samsung about its negotiations with Tesla, it is finally difficult to situate oneself. It may well be that Samsung cameras will equip the next Cybertruck just as it is possible that they will be found on other models of electric cars produced by Tesla.
It should also be noted that the production of the Cybertruck is far from effective. According to the confidences of Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, the manufacture of his new electric vehicle should start in the second half of 2023. This deadline can only be met in the best case. It is therefore not excluded that it will be postponed.
