The Jato Institute has just published its sales results in the 27 countries of the EU and the UK for the month of November 2022, and just like in September, the Tesla Model Y dominates the ranking of the best-selling vehicles. With 19,169 units sold over the past month, the Model Y is ahead of the Dacia Sandero (18,781 units) and the Toyota Yaris (17,320 units). In electrics, the American SUV is ahead of another Tesla model, the Model 3 sedan and its 12,312 units sold in November. Third, the Volkswagen ID.4 is far behind (7,584 units).
However, as with the results for the month of September, this very good score for the Tesla Model Y is not due to a naturally higher sales rate compared to other cars in Europe. Rather, we owe it to the brand’s delivery strategy, which prefers to operate in waves rather than sell its cars at a steady pace. At the end of each quarter, it delivers the majority of its copies. In October, for example, the Tesla Model Y did not even appear among the 10 best-selling electric cars in Europe.
Best electric European sales in 2022?
If the Tesla Model Y is not in the competition for the title of the best-selling car in Europe in 2022 (it is currently the Peugeot 208 that is most suitable for this), on the other hand, it can win it from the continent’s best-selling electric car. Especially since its deliveries should again be significant in December 2022. Remember that in 2021 it was the Tesla Model 3 that dominated this ranking, well ahead of the Volkswagen ID.3.
